Vile Nazi graffiti appears in elementary school as vandals paint red swastika on wall
Staff at St Albert’s Primary School in Pollokshields, Glasgow, were stunned to find the extremist markings on the school as well as other graffiti
A Catholic primary school in Glasgow was the target of vandals who painted a red swastika and other hate symbols on the school grounds.
Staff at St Albert Primary School in Pollokshields were stunned to find the extremist markings on the school as well as other graffiti.
The incident was reported to the police and the school is committed to “spreading a strong message of fairness, rights and community spirit.”
Principal Clare Harker told the Daily Record: âWe have already written songs and messages to people who want to use the school grounds to invite them to clean up.
âWe really see the school as an important resource for the whole community.
âThe community also helped us make the land beautiful. This is another reason why we are all so upset.
âNow we’re even more inspired to make sure we deliver a strong message of fairness, rights and community spirit. This is what we do ! “
A teacher from the school wrote: “So I arrived at work today to find graffiti, vandalism and major hate crime symbols in our school.
âWe like to think that we are open, inclusive and that we have enough space to share. We don’t want to close the space.
“Any ideas on how we can keep people from destroying some of the nice upgrades our parents made and rags to the wealthy volunteers?”
“I wish we could all work and live together … all ideas are welcome.”
Councilor Chris Cunningham said: âThis is heinous behavior and the school has rightly reported this to the police as a hate crime.
âSt Albert Primary School sits on beautiful grounds with access to the community outside of school hours – the fact that it has been vandalized in this way shows that the culprits have no respect for the school or students.
âGraffiti can be cleaned up, but it’s so sickening that it was done in the first place and, unfortunately, it’s the minority who can’t behave properly in our buildings and yards.
A Scottish Police spokesperson said: ‘We received a report on Wednesday 29 September of offensive graffiti found at a school in the Maxwell Drive area of ââPollokshields, Glasgow. Investigations are underway to find those responsible. “
