Seven Summits: Creating Adventures in Learning
Seven Summits Center for Learning is offering three scholarships for the 2022-23 academic year and is inviting motivated, adventurous, community-minded, and academically-minded students to join their strong cohort.
Who is the Seven Summits Center for Learning?
The center, administered by the Visions for Small Schools Society, provides an academic environment for learners to meet and work on the BC curriculum, supported by certified BC educators. The distance learning program, Navigate NIDES, offers courses and electives complemented by workshops in music, arts, physical education, environmental management, and life skills programming.
The Center is located in the iconic red-roofed church in downtown Rossland. Youth in grades 8-12 engage in blended learning by combining award-winning online education with highly trained teachers and responsive support. Beyond the goal of earning a BC Dogwood Certificate of Graduation, many graduates have successfully attended prestigious post-secondary institutions supported by scholarships.
What is the scholarship offer?
7S offers one full scholarship to pay the full facility fee of $2,450 and two partial scholarships of $1,225.
This offer is extended to all new students planning to enroll for the 2022-23 school year. New students entering grades 8-12 at the start of the 2022-23 school year are eligible. This rigorous, merit-based process emphasizes academic achievement expressed through individual student creativity.
Why offer this offer to new students?
Since this is the 10th anniversary of the Seven Summits Center for Learning, the goal is to attract new students who may not have considered our center due to financial obligation to pay tuition fees. annual installation of $2,450.00. However, one of the learning goals of the Seven Summits is to inspire future leaders through self-expression and excellence. Applying to become a 7S Fellow is the first step in what can become a lifelong educational journey.
Why attend a blended learning center?
Students participate in independent learning, but they are not alone in their journey. Students with low student-teacher ratios practice self-efficacy, self-defense, and educational responsibility in a structured learning environment. 7S students introduce themselves and accept challenges. They don’t accept average.
The 7S promise to their student cohort is: “We are committed to supporting you 100% throughout your high school journey.”
The 7S vision is to become the premier educational experience in the Kootenays, and the Center’s values include the pillars of-
* Connected – A strong sense of belonging, cohort unity, inclusive culture, anti-bullying
* Innovative – Blended learning using BC certified teachers online and in the classroom
* Flexibility – Four-day week, self-paced study program, 9:15 a.m. start times, and arrangements for athletic commitments and travel requirements
* Leadership – Trusted administration, student-led leadership programs, initiatives and councils
Students choose Seven Summits Center For Learning because they yearn for an educational experience beyond the traditional classroom. This could be for many reasons, including having an IEP, being a high achiever, wanting a self-paced learning experience, or needing a flexible schedule for athletic activities.
