Carvana strayed from her signature car “vending machines” with this one, featuring what many would consider a typical mother elated at something she bought. Even if your mom isn’t like that, you know someone who can’t stop talking about something they bought. Luckily, there’s no cliché living room setting or Real Housewives dining table conversation.
For someone who seems like the billboard woman for word-of-mouth advertising, this mom is actually pretty tech-savvy. And that makes sense considering she bought a car online from, you know, Carvana. She jams her son’s PowerPoint presentation at work via video call to say “Susan from Carvana” checked in, which is definitely the most interesting thing that happened when these people got together. The next would surely discuss how this mother bypassed all the security measures for this conference call and was able to control the video screen.
That’s not all. What Carvana portrays as a “typical” mother is also someone who is a painter and a judge. She also appears to be working a second job at the company with a standard morning lift shot seven seconds later. This mother is a superstar who seems to be hiding in plain sight, and maybe that’s Carvana’s point. In fact, we don’t even see the car she bought until the end of the ad and honestly, I didn’t even care what kind of car she bought. Rather than going over the top, Carvana kept it simple. And given what’s happened over the past few years, simplicity is a welcome sight.
